Sorry it has taken so long to update our front page.  We hope you had an enjoyable Winter and look forward to seeing all of you this Summer.  We have been busy this past Winter.  As many of you know, DTE is planning to extend natural gas lines into the three lakes area of Long, Little Long and Loon.  While this does not affect many of you with this extension, it shows a willingness on the part of DTE to make this commitment and investment in our community which may not end with just these three lakes.

The Hale Area Association and Plainfield Township have joined forces to purchase two new Welcome to Hale signs along M-65.  These will be installed near the old signs, which will be relocated east and west, during the month of May.  Thanks to the Hale Area Association, its members and contributors for making this happen.

We have again been successful in receiving a tire clean-up grant from the DEQ.  We will be accepting any volume of tires from within the community on the two weekends this summer, June 23-24 and July 21-22..  If you know of a tire pile within our community, make plans to get them to our waste site on the following dates for removal free of charge.  We will be working with Reno and Burleigh Townships, who also received tire clean-up grants to help rid our communities of these eyesores and mosquito breeding grounds.

You will see some construction on the front entrance to the offices this summer.  We are adding a new entrance to the meeting room/library which will include an ADA restroom for after hours use by library patrons. Part of the costs will be offset by a grant from the Iosco-Arenac Regional Library.  This addition will allow more extended library hours and more flexibility in the use and scheduling of the meeting room for after hours meetings by community and groups.

As most of you are aware, since you just received your waste cards in the mail, we again for the second year in a row have been able to reduce the waste card fee and keep it down.  We will continue to reduce costs wherever we can for the services we provide while maintaining the service level you have come to expect from your Township.

Thank you for your continued support and HAVE A GREAT SUMMER.
