FROM THE SUPERVISOR’S OFFICE

Spring has sprung and gone and now we are into summer hot and heavy.  So much for clichés. We have completed the Loon Lake Nature Park and invite all residents to stop and walk the trails, enjoy the boardwalk on Mud Lake or bring your family for a cookout at the pavilion. Take some time to enjoy the parks in our township.

You may notice some new people working around the township, these are summer interns working through MichWorks and funded by federal monies. They will be with us through the summer and we will be using them to maintain our facilities throughout the township.  In addition you will not see some normally familiar faces at the township offices.  As we are all aware, our economy is not what it once was.  Our revenue sharing income from the state, which accounts for about 60% of our general operating income, has been cut by 15% in the last two payments for this year and promises for the future are just as bleak.  In an effort to be proactive, we have had to take steps to trim our budget.  These steps will have no effect on the level of service that you receive from these offices, and if you feel that our service has been compromised in any way please call.  We will also be modifying our hours of operation by changing our opening from 7:30 to 9:00 AM.  We have kept track of traffic in the office and calls, and have found this change should not impact service.  There are many other steps we have been taking and will continue to take as is necessary under these conditions.

Enough of that subject, we hear the talking heads ramble on about that every day.  The Hale Veterans will be having a 4th of July celebration on July 5th .  Parades, games, events and activities culminating in fireworks at dusk behind the community building are all on the agenda.  For a complete listing of activities and times, check out www.haleyes.org. Parade begins at 3:00 PM. In addition, the Hale Area Assoc. is creating a volunteer task force to help with projects in our community.  If you are interested in assisting please call Kathy Alward at 728-2525 for more information.

As always, stop in and see us or call at 989-728-2811 Monday thru Friday 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

CHANGE IN THE TREASURER’S OFFICE

I’m excited to let you know we will be accepting credit/debit card payments beginning July 1, 2009.  These will be processed through GovPayEXP. THIS IS AN ON-LINE SERVICE ONLY.  You can use this service to pay taxes, waste cards, sewer bills, and building (electrical, plumbing, mechanical, zoning) permits.
From our website you will be able to go directly to GovPayEXP.  You do need to be aware of the fact that they will charge you a service fee of 3.5% or minimum $3.50.  If you pay after the due date and do not add a penalty it will show as a partial payment.

As always we enjoy serving you.
